Varanasi, also known as Kashi or Banaras, is a city that's more than just a destination-it's a sacred experience. It is India’s oldest city. A place where ancient tradition and modern culture blend seamlessly.

Introducing a government-operated website for Varanasi. The platform aims to boost tourism and support local artisans. It advocates for sustainable tourism and collaborates with NGOs for a brighter future.
Problem
Varanasi faces challenges in realizing its full tourism potential due to a lack of accessibility of information.
Question
How might we showcase Varanasi's cultural heritage, promotes tourism, and provides easy access to information.
Solution
The Varanasi Heritage City website is a digital platform developed by the government for the tourists.

Background
We (team of 4 people) participated in Dehradun design hackathon in 2023. Out of 6 themes, we chose the “Promote cultural heritage and tourism.”

#1 Design process >/< time constraints
For academic projects, we have enough time to follow a certain process. But participating in hackathon made me realize the emphasis on prioritizing steps. Secondary tasks are handled in the back of the mind, a skill that develops with experience.
#2 Presentation skills is a do or a die game.
Since it was an online medium basis, we were supposed to send a presentation of our concept. Hackathon provided an opportunity to improve our ability to communicate our ideas clearly.
Participated in hackathon for the first time, the pressure and excitement was real.

IVI system distracts driver from the primary task. The current trend tends to reduce the controls. Groups them into multi-functional knobs and complicating overall performance.
Solution
Evaluating the layout with the least possible distractions and discomforts. Choosing inclusive icons for elderly people.
